1. Establish Your Domain

One of the first things that you need to do would be to get your own domain name. You want to get something that represents your brand and a domain name is necessary so that you will get your own space. When people type your brand name followed by a ‘.com’, they should end up on your website.

2. Get a Good Web Host

Another crucial thing that you need to do (and sadly, one of the most overlooked) is getting the services of a really good web hosting company.You want a web hosting company that you can trust; a business entity that provides you with the things that you need to have a fully-functioning website.


3. Hire a Web Development Team

Now, if you are still starting out, you can build your own website using one of those website builders that you can find online (some hosting companies have their own proprietary software that you can use as well).However, if you want a more professional website, hiring a dedicated web development team is so much better. Particularly, you’d want to hire at least one web designer and one web developer to get the job started.

4. Acquire All the Necessary Licenses and Permits

Since you are going to run a business (albeit an online one), you will still need to get the necessary licenses and permits. That will depend on the country or state you are in, so
if you are unsure, you can hire a lawyer to help you with the process.Essentially, you will need a license to operate and a vendor’s permit. You may need to acquire additional licenses, though, but that depends entirely on your country or state’s laws.

5. Plan Out How Your Website is Going to Look Like

Create a plan or a wireframe so that you can have the blueprint on how your website will look like in the end. Think about website navigation, your ‘About’ page, and so many things. You want it to be as simple as possible, yet elegant enough to not look like a boring old webpage.

6. Support as Many Payment Channels as Possible

Not a lot of people use credit cards when they make an online purchase. I, for one, use Paypal since it is much more secure and does what it does really well. Aside from all major credit cards, have support for as many payment channels as possible. Paypal is just one of the most popular ones, but you could also support Stripe,Alipay, and so much more.

7. Develop Your SEO Strategy

At this point, your website has already launched and everything is set up. The only thing left for you to do would be to develop an SEO strategy and implement it. SEO is important, especially if you are running an e-commerce website. Also, it helps when you do some social media marketing as well since plenty of people are using the medium for personal (and sometimes business) reasons.
